2001: An ICE Odyssey
Flashback: INS Director Promises Full Border Control by 2001

by Terry Graham

Last night, I found a news clip from 1996 entitled “INS Says Border Can’t Be Sealed Until 2001.” The article, which ran 1/31/1996 in the San Francisco Chronicle was written by open-borders immigrant reporter Louis Freedberg, whose writing reeked of internationalist tripe. (Note: The INS has since changed its name to ICE, but its SNAFU strategies continue.)

Deja vu all over again.

The article began: “Eighteen months after the Clinton administration tightened its stand on the California [Mexican] border, the pressure of illegal immigration appears to be greater than ever.” Apprehensions along the San Diego border reportedly had risen 79% in the first two weeks of January 1996.

Mark Krikorian, of the Center for Immigration Studies noted that Clinton’s claim of greater border security, “does not mean we have shut down the magnet of jobs that is drawing people in the first place.” Still true, more than a decade later.

A woman who should have been jailed years ago for criminal malfeasance, subversion, and treason, then-INS Commissioner Doris Meissner snorted in response that Clinton’s administration border plan was working. Meissner explained to the stupid masses (us) that ‘controlling the border is going to be a long-term, step-by-step process.’

“We’ve always said this would be a three-to-five-year effort to build up to what would be needed,” said Meissner, wife of World Bankster spouse Chuck Meissner (who died in Commerce Secretary’s Ron Brown plane crash). Meissner promised us that border control would be in place as early as 1999...certainly no later than 2001. We all know how her tall tale ended.

Meissner then went on to make an astonishingly inane, bizarre, revealing comment: “Have we sealed the border? No. It is a border after all....” What? WHAT? W H A T?

The 1996 article described “stepped-up border enforcement" key to Bill Clinton's carrying California in the upcoming election “including sending National Guard to serve in support roles.” Sound familiar?

As Traitor Meissner insisted that 1996 border policies were working, then-Attorney General Janet (Waco) Reno -- whose replacement is La Raza’s Alberto Gonzalez -- bellowed, “Let me be clear: there is no quick fix. This is a decades old problem, and it cannot be solved overnight.” If only Reno had been so circumspect before burning alive innocent Christians in Texas.

The article further asserted that, “...[Clinton] administration officials are now talking in military-style terms to promote their border control efforts, which they say go far beyond what previous administrations attempted.” Which was bloody nothing, and continues to be.

Rahm Emanuel, then special assistant on immigration matters to Pres. Bill Clinton, is quoted, claiming that, “After years of talk and no action, we finally have a strategy and battle plan to put into place, and that is what you are seeing.” Today, Rep. Emanuel (D-IL) chairs the House’s Democratic Caucus following his chairing the 2006 Democrat Cogressional Campaign Committee. Peter Principle?

Then National Council of La Raza [“The Race”] vice president Doug Kamasaki stated in 1996 that, “It is much more effective and human (sic) to deter people from coming into the country than somehow trying to track them down once they are already here.” Today, La Raza demands wide open borders.

Obviously, Clinton, Meissner, Reno, and Emanuel were blowing smoke up Americans trusting tushes, with false, deceptive, empty promises of meaningful border enforcement activities supposedly designed to fully control our borders, ending illegal entry, by 2001.

Today, President George Bush continues the Clinton-Bush continuum of lies, assuring us that he will finally do his job and control our borders. Sorry, pal, we aren't buying your snake oil.

Earlier this month, Bush's Border Patrol chief David Aguilar told a congressional conference on U.S.-Mexico border issues that the border won't be secured before 2013.

“Trust us!” we’re told by a gaggle of goons in the media and on Capitol Hill.

Been there, done that, we wary, aware, fully activated Americans reply.

News Flash to all you Washington D.C.-vers: We’re done with you traitors. You will do our bidding, or suffer the consequences served up by the Citizenry. You know, your employers.
